Want to go from happy to elated?
Let’s skip the fluff and go straight to the actionable quick tips that you can implement immediately.
An attitude of gratitude has the power to elevate our mood and energy. Simply list 3 things you are thankful for today in your journal. Easy!
This form of journaling is in itself a form of meditation. Because it allows you to be present and focusing on only the things that are working and not on the faults or regrets.
You may be feeling powerless in some area of your life simply because you are overwhelmed. Not sure which task to tackle first. I have good news: Eat the frog!
As Mark Twain once said,
“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”
The frog is that one thing you have on your to-do list that you have absolutely no motivation to do and that you’re most likely to procrastinate on. Eating the frog means to just do it, otherwise, the frog will eat you meaning that you’ll end up procrastinating it the whole day.
Once that one task is done, the rest of the day will be an easier ride and you will get both momentum and a sense of accomplishment at the beginning of your day.
When you feel lost in dark moments, go easy on yourself. Take a nap. Listen to a motivational recording. Do something that uplifts and relaxes you. The more relaxed and carefree you feel, the more powerful you will feel. Pray. Meditate. But always list 3 things that you will do today to make today a GREAT day!
This night time reflection allows you to recap on the amazing things which took place today. Say, you accomplished the 3 things you listed from tip #2, or you went for a walk or smiled at someone during your walk — any number of these things will help relax your mind for sleeping tonight. This exercise is known as a brain dump.
A brain dump is simply the act of dumping all the contents of your mind onto paper as one might dump the contents of a purse onto a table. You are spilling out stressors, your nagging thoughts, your pesky annoyances
